Snow Day, already????

Hey, I thought snow was for January and February and maybe on occasion on Dec 25th.

What is this insanity that the internet is telling me???
Internet, I like you. You've been good to me. Why in the world would you start talking such non-sense? What have I done to you?

You know, I did take a science class or two, and a "low" of 36 degrees shouldn't mean snow. Lets just bank on that. Even the radio weather guy is saying snow on Monday.

I'd better buy groceries tomorrow. ... because that's what Texans do when they here "snow". PANIC! And they plan on staying in the house with supplies fortified to rival a Y2K bunker! hahahahahaha. Incidentally, if you need to reach me on Monday, I should be home. *wink wink*

A few more pictures

Here's a few more pictures from the new place. This is the bathroom. Yes, I'm bloggin about a bathroom. But see those cool berries in the box-formerly-known-as-Kleenex-holder? Those are from the side of my yard. My mom noticed them after the big fire-y red bush had lost all its leaves. What a great idea to just clip off a few for the house.

I love having the washrag/towels rolled in this planter. Its a metal planter I purchased in Korea. I'm sure you can find something exactly like it at Hobby Lobby. All there stuff is from Asia anyway.

Here's the shower curtain and picture things. These picture things were on clearance at the PX in Korea a couple years ago. They are for your garden. Its shaped Styrofoam. I don't really have a garden, or like to garden... but I like them.

The shower curtain is custom. Sure some same homemade... but I prefer custom. So on my *custom* curtain, I've added the button holes, just like the Pottery Barn curtains and I added a row of beaded trim. I'm pretty sure you cannot have too many beads.

So that is a little bit more of the house.

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween! The parents are in town visiting the fancy-schmancy new place. I convinced my mom to dress up as a lady bug, but then I thought- Hey, we should go together!

And the kids' costumes look ALOT like the did last year. I suppose we are a very un-inventive family- but if its any conselation, we do live in a different town- so none of these new folks know we used the costumes last year. Agh, it looks like Pobbs didn't make it into the pictures. He was Jenga Fet, just like last year.

And this year, the day after Halloween, we went up to Target and found a pet costume. Oh my gosh. Can I tell you how much our cat hated this costume?

I think Clancy is walking away, planning his revenge.

Carving The Holiday... Pumpkins

'Tis the season!

Don't be scared... they are JUST pumpkins. Sure, the seeds are pretty funky and slimey, but that's nothing to freak out about.

That is Ry'noh's pumpkin in the above picture. When we went to the pumpkin patch, I told the kids they can only pick out a pumpkin that they can carry by themselves. I no longer roll with a stroller, so there's no way I'm carrying all 4 pumpkins from that trip. Looks like Ry is the least ambitious of the 3 kids. His pumpkin weighed in just under 3lbs. Elisie-pie weighed hers in at 18lbs! Pobbs' was around 8lbs.

Wanna see how they turned out? Here's Ry modelling what his pumpkin face really looks like:

And I have to put this picture up, since its a super cute pumpkin- but I'm not so good at getting the flash to turn off AND keeping the camera still and other *technical* things. So here's a blurry picture of the illuminated Jack'o'lantern.

Doesn't he look like he's embarassed or something. "Oh, If I knew you were stopping by I would have put my pants on. OH WAIT, I don't have a body!" ahahaha. Or, "Yeh, honey, those kids left another flaming bag on the porch, you'll never guess what's on my shoe." ahahahah. OR "Maybe he's just thinking 'why did you give me embarassed eyebrows, I RULE this lawn.' "

Happy Fall Y'all!!

Ah, we are finally back to doing stuff that is fun and normal and all American.

Today we went to the local Pumpkin Patch! It was wonderful and very affordable. And like the Korea days of the blog- I've got TONS of pictures for you!

The pumpkin patch was so much more than a hay ride and a field. First up, feeding caged animals. I couldn't think of a better way to phrase that- I mean its not a petting zoo... but they aren't "pony rides" or anything like that... really, they are just well-fed, caged animals.

Oooh and they had this cool set of troughs to make little rubber ducks race. Hum... that isn't the best description either. Check out the picture below:

The kids had to use the ole'time water pumpers to generate enough water into the PVC pipe to propel a duck to the other end. It was pretty neat, all in all.

What next- Oh, Gourd Gun! They put the little 4" baby pumpkins into this black air pressured canon and the kids got to fire them at a target. Elisie-pie wanted to see how far she could shoot hers. Ry'noh needed a little help hitting the button and Pobbs tried to shoot his pumpkin further than Elisie-pie. ... so no one really *needed* the targets ...

Sorry, that above picture is just the back of Pobbs, but I wanted you to see the targets. Both older kids hit those trees in the background with that high pressure canon. Holy smokes. There was no prize for distance, but if you happened to actually get your pumpkin through the tiny target hole, you'd get a free funnel cake. Yeh, they had funnel cake AND kettle corn!

And, as you may know, in my {ahem} 29 years, I've never gone in a Corn Maze. I'm happy to report that today I can totally cross that off my bucket list.

We started off into the maze and it was going well. Ah, child's play. Then we took a few wrong turns. Then um... we some how were back almost where we started. Then, we took a few more wrong turns. Then I found myself checking for the power lines over head (because they were to the west of the maze.) Um...

Then um... we turned and walked some more. Then I told the kids it might be Halloween before we actually found out way out. They were quick to reassure me that Halloween was a whole 7 days away and we'd certainly be out before then. When I joked about not making it out before dark, they started to get nervous. Eventually we had taken all logic out of our turns and steps and just keep walking and turning and turning and turning back and walking and.... drum roll please...

And of course, the big event for the day- PUMPKINS

What a wonderful day back in civilization! Love our new town!!!! Happy Fall, Y'all!!!

A couple rooms

Ok, here's a couple spots of MINE in the house.

First up is my sewing studio. Very exciting stuff. If you squint at the picture you can see we were painting the room... ran out of painters tape... household goods were delivered... I got excited to unpack... um... and I like to think of it as purple "raw edge" crown molding. hahah.

My next favorite room so far is the computer room. Big surprise there. Here is my corner. Both of these rooms were the same color purple. Now one is purple and one is blue. I'm not convinced the purple is staying... I don't mind it, but this guy I know, who also spends a good bit of time in the computer room thinks we need a less purple color. He wants grey.

Oh, and I had to take a picture of the kids' bathroom. I purchased a plain white shower curtain from Wallys (or maybe it was target..) then added a few fabric patches to jazz it up a bit. Lord knows I have some fabric to spare. I might be posting the how-to over on the design blog later this week.

I purchased the new-with-tag hamper at the Goodwill this morning for $3. Can't go wrong when rich people get rid of perfectly good stuff! I also scored a Pampered Chef Fluted Baking Stone. Ah, how I love the thrift stores....

I'll have more pictures for you as we settle in.

Freeze Fail

Hum.... Click on the picture to see the "Use or FREEZE by date" for this yummy salad. Thankfully, we opted for USE...

The Last Days

Ok, I finally found the camera, here at the new house, that we used at the old house, to snap pictures of the kids and their friends before we left for the big city.

How cute are these kids??? They played ALL summer long. On this last day though, they managed to capture the whole essence of the summer in two hours.

One fell into the little creek. One smashed his finger in a door. One got his pants snagged on the bike chain. That is 50%, people! To my surprise, at the end of the last play date no one was sad. They were just shouting jokes back and forth to each other as their MiniV pulled away.

Here they are trying to out jump each other. Check out the big guy in the yellow shirt. Holy smokes he's got ups! And the littlest ones... well, I don't think their feet left the ground, but by goodness they were not getting left out.

Hopefully we'll see y'all soon out here in civilization where everything is wonderful all the time.

Jesus Helped him Pack

Ok, the guy who packed out the garage was going along at a pretty good clip (mostly because our one car garage was busting at the seams!) So I say to him "Wow, you're making good progress." And he says "Yeh, I had help." -which, at the time, I thought was very strange, since he was out there by himself.

So they all finished packing up and everything is numbered and the big moving truck is set to roll in that next day... Rob and I go out to the garage to find that EVERY box out there is labeled with contents AND a scripture. Yes, a full-on scripture with book + chapter references.

Only one box has a scripture with the cite reference "The Center of the Bible" Hum... not too sure the page number on that... but still. I showed the boxes to my more religious friends who said that most of the verses look to be accurate. Really, I'm not too savvy with the Bible verses, so if the guy wrote a bunch of crazy stuff and cited it "Psalms 35:20084" I probably wouldn't know the difference.

Wow. There ya go. Jesus helped him pack our garage. I suppose if someone is going to help you pack ... that's probably a good choice. Here's hoping NOTHING gets broken. =)

In unrelated news- how much quicker do you think he'd have finished if he DIDN'T write verses on every single box?

Two days to go

We've only got two days to go in the house here in Altus Oklahoma. See ya on the flip side!
